Mark was interested in art from an early age and after attending Art College, favoured print-making, opening a print-making studio in Kent, where he spent many years developing etching and collagraph techniques.
Following the storm of October 1997 he was commissioned to produce a limited edition etching of Kew gardens, and other commissions followed including those from NatWest Bank and The Dorchester Hotel.
His etching works, which included landscapes, abstracts and figuratives, were successfully published by CCA Galleries of London, and London Contemporary Art selling all over the world. Mark's work has also been exhibited at the 20th Century British Art fair, the Chelsea and Hampton Court Show, and the Barbican Contemporary Print Fair, with distribution to USA, Japan, Korea, Australia, Spain and Holland.
Over time and with constant experimentation with regard to different forms of imagery and techniques Mark developed his use of oils, embracing the challenge again of a completely new medium.
This work, which was mainly figurative, was very well received and in 2000 it was published by a major publisher with the first edition selling out very quickly. In 2003 Mark was awarded the Fine Art Trade Guild Up & Coming Published Artist award and nominated for Best Selling Artist the following year.
Since then Mark has been hard at work producing a variety of figurative images which have been exhibited throughout the UK including at Harrods, London and always to much acclaim. In 2010 he also exhibited very successfully at the Artexpo in New York, USA.
Mark's work is constantly evolving and expanding with ideas based on the female form. Within this work movement is the key supported by form, texture and colour. His latest exciting work not only incorporates his figurative work but also city scapes, thus heralding the start of a whole new body of work.
