After National Service in the nineteen fifties, Roy completed a formal art education at Barnet College in Hertfordshire. Since then he has developed his love of painting, particularly in watercolours and has exhibited in a range of galleries across the country.

In 1970 he moved to the Milton Keynes area where he held his first solo exhibition of watercolour works in the Clark Galleries at Stony Stratford.

Since then Roy has exhibited throughout the country, his work is in private collections throughout the UK and in Canada, America, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, China and Japan.

Roy has strong links with Art Works in Milton Keynes where he has run art workshops on watercolour techniques. He also works with students of all ages at his studio in Great Linford where he has worked full time for the last eight years

Roy is a highly accomplished water colourist of some 45 years experience but he has also continued to explore the other styles of painting including acrylics, oils and more recently collage with the use of handmade papers and natural fibres with a mixed media approach to his work.

He continues to be inspired by rural landscapes with architectural interest like those found in some remote areas of Wales and Scotland, and recent works have been greatly influenced by visits to rustic villages and town in France.
